Where I am, and where my clients are
I work from Holmfirth in West Yorkshire. That is where I sit, and it is where I am happy to drive out to meet someone. It is not a limit on who I work with. A good chunk of my work is with people I have never stood in a room with, in other counties and other countries, and the sites turn out just as well.
If you are reading this from Toronto, Sydney, Berlin or Austin, none of what follows changes. The process is the same. The only real difference is the clock.
The worry people usually have
Most people asking about remote work are worried about one thing. That being far away means being ignored. Slow replies, vague updates, a project that quietly stalls while you sit there wondering whether to chase.
That is a fair worry, and it is exactly what happens when there is no structure. Distance does not cause it. Poor process causes it, and poor process ruins local projects too. I have heard the same complaint from people whose designer was ten minutes down the road.
How I keep it from happening
Everything runs on a shared, visible process. You know which stage we are at, what I need from you, and what happens next. No guessing, no chasing.
We start with one proper call, screen shared, where I ask the same questions I would ask sat at your kitchen table. Where do your enquiries come from, which jobs do you want more of, what have you already tried. That call does the work a site visit would do.
Time zones in practice
I set clear windows for calls that suit your day, not just mine. For anywhere in Europe it barely matters. For North America I take afternoon and evening calls. For Australia and New Zealand we use early mornings my end. Between calls, written updates mean you always wake up to progress rather than silence.
What travels well and what does not
Structure, wording, design and build all travel perfectly. Photography does not. If your site needs real pictures of your premises, your team or your work, you will need a local photographer, and I will tell you exactly what to brief them for.
Local search knowledge travels too, with a caveat. The principles are the same everywhere. The specifics of your local directories and review habits differ by country, and I will research yours rather than assume it works like Yorkshire.
So, to be plain about it
Based in Holmfirth, Yorkshire. Happy to meet you in person anywhere across Huddersfield, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and Halifax. Equally happy to build for you from the other side of the world. Same process, same standard, same person answering your emails.

A straight comparison, without the platform loyalty. What each one is genuinely better at.
Freelance Web Designer vs Agency: Which Suits a Yorkshire Small Business?
Both work. They fail in different ways, and that is the useful part of the comparison.
