Ecommerce or Enquiry Site?

A shop you do not need is expensive to build and worse to run. Most companies need a site that starts a conversation.

They are different jobs

An enquiry site gets someone to get in touch, then you sell. A shop takes the money without you. They cost different amounts. They fail in different ways.

A lot of companies ask for a shop when they really need better conversations. More of the right clients. Not a trolley.

You probably want enquiries if

The price depends on the job. You need to look at it, quote, or talk before anything is agreed. You want to choose which work you take. That is most services.

You probably want a shop if

Prices are fixed. The product is the same every time. You can pack and send it, or it is digital. Handling every sale yourself would sink you.

A shop is not finished at launch. Stock, photos, delivery rules, returns, fees. Budget for running it, not just building it.

Sometimes the middle is right. An enquiry site, plus two or three things you can buy there and then. Test whether people will pay online before you build a full shop.

If the site looks alright and the work is still not coming in

That is usually the words and the layout, not a new colour scheme. A short call is enough to see which.
