Sheffield Web Design: Questions to Ask Before You Sign

A few awkward questions now are cheaper than a site you cannot edit, do not own, and that brings in nothing.

Before any money leaves the account

Who owns the site and the domain? You should. If the domain is in someone else's name, you are renting your own address.

Can you change your own text? Opening hours, prices, a new service. That should not need a training course.

What happens after it goes live? Ask what support actually means, and what it costs. Vague answers here turn into ignored emails later.

On the work itself

What will they ask before they design anything? If the answer is not much, they are decorating. You want someone who asks how you get work now, and what a good enquiry looks like.

How will the site show up for Sheffield searches? Look for something real. Wording people actually type. A Google profile that matches the site. Not just the word SEO.

Will it load on a phone with a bad signal? Half the visits are on a phone. Speed is whether they wait or they do not.

The leave question

If you want to take the site with you later, how does that work? If the answer is complicated, that is your answer.

If the site looks alright and the work is still not coming in

That is usually the words and the layout, not a new colour scheme. A short call is enough to see which.
