Realistic timelines
A single page site, done properly, takes about one to two weeks. A five to eight page business site is usually three to six weeks. Anything with a shop or booking system runs longer, and I would rather tell you eight weeks and mean it than four weeks and miss it.
Those numbers assume the content exists or that I am writing it. That is where timelines usually go sideways.
What the weeks are spent on
Week one is questions and structure. What you sell, who buys it, where they come from, what order things need to be said in. No design yet.
Then design and build, which is the visible part and often the quickest. Then content, testing on real phones, and launch checks.
The thing that causes delays
Waiting on content. Photos, service details, prices, the answer to a question only you can answer. Projects rarely stall on the building side, they stall waiting for a decision.
The fix is simple. Before we start, gather your photos and write rough notes on each service. Rough is fine. I will tidy the words.
Can it be faster?
Yes, if the scope is tight and you are quick with answers. I have turned a solid one page site around in a few days when someone needed it for a launch. Speed comes from decisions, not from working weekends.
Sheffield Web Design: Questions to Ask Before You Sign Anything
Nine questions that save Sheffield business owners from the most common website mistakes.
Do I Need a Web Designer or a Web Developer?
The two words get used as if they mean the same thing. They do not, and picking wrong costs money.
Do I Need a Blog on My Business Website?
Usually not the blog you are imagining. Here is when writing pays and when it just fills a folder.
Want a straight opinion on your own site?
I am in Holmfirth and I work with businesses across Huddersfield, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and Halifax. Book a short call and I will tell you what I would change first, whether you hire me or not.
